Salpi Adrouny is a ‘mostly retired’ family physician who has been playing flute on and off since 5th grade.

She was born in the ancient city of Aleppo, Syria, of Christian Armenian parentage. Her family emigrated to the USA in the early 1950’s as her dad was finishing his Ph.D. in Biochemistry at Emory U. (Like so many immigrants, he realized that this great Country would be a far better and safer place to raise his family, than the ever-turbulent Middle East.)

Salpi’s greatest musical experience was playing flute in her New Orleans junior high school band under a wonderful conductor , Mr Longuesfosse, who had those young kids playing opera, Broadway and other wonderful pieces at a high level of performance ! For many years, during her busy medical career, Salpi sometimes picked up her flute and played; but it is in retirement that she has truly been able to return to it, playing with great joy in Southern Winds as well as with the Atlanta Flute Ensemble.

She is so happy to have the opportunity to play under Steve Mashburn’s warm conductorship; and amidst so many superb fellow member musicians !
