Dorothy began playing orchestra bells (mallet percussion) in the summer of 2003. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in piano from U.S.C. and a Music Education Certificate from Georgia Southern University. For 27 years, she was a piano and music education teacher in the Georgia school system. A native of Charleston, S.C., she has been singing in choral groups and church choirs since childhood, and for many years served as part time church organist or pianist and choir director. Dorothy has played handbells and currently sings in the “Sanctuary Choir” at the Roswell U.M.C. where she also serves as a regular Sunday School pianist. She has 3 daughters and 6 grandchildren all living in the Atlanta area. Dot’s lifelong love of music brought her to us in search of a new outlet for her talent. She has found her participation in this group to be quite an enjoyable experience. Southern Winds is fortunate to have her musical skill and experience in their percussion section.
